Things to talk about

After rehearsals, you are to make a comment following rehearsals, clinics, and contests.  If you are not at rehearsals, clinics or contests, then comment on a part of the script, what needs to be done as far as props, set, costumes, music, etc. If you do not know how to comment, follow directions or ask someone who has been in OAP.

Look at this website:

We've had three people whose money was stolen during OAP - 39 Steps and during the rehearsals for Seven Spots on the Sun.  This has never happened to me before in the 34 years of doing OAP.  I will be telling Mr. Hulse.  This is a warning to everyone.  It stops now. Also, it is not a time to be pointing fingers at anyone. Maverick lost $46.00. That is unconscionable.   This is a family.   Out of our first public performance, we are paying these people back.

Everyone has three unexcused absences.  Three unexcused tardies = an absence.
Sickness, a death,  another UIL game or contest, or church is excused.  Everything else is unexcused.

We are WAY BEHIND.  Be a self motivator - a self initiator.  Find jobs to help with the production.  Rehearse outside of the program.  Come in at different times and help with the set or with costumes.
Help me out with the room. YOUR MOTHER IS NOT HERE.  Be responsible.

  1. I think we need to work on people noises, even in a group of 14 or 2. It adds an energy to the whole show. We also need to work on being more efficient so we can get more done! In between scenes and when we are working on the same one.

  2. The town needs to work on our stage business when it is not our scenes and carry over those actions and traits of our characters to our lines. Each one of us sounds alike when in our large town scenes, and we need to figure out how each character’s inflection, speed, emotion, ect. varies from one another’s. This town has to be made of real people, not 10 people who could be replicas of each other on stage. I know we can do it if we work hard on characterization!

  4. we need to exaggerate our jobs in the play so it makes it obvious what our job is. and our freezing needs to be great

  5. I think that the townspeople need to get smoother moving between lines

  6. We need to work on accents and the town's people need to find out who they are and what their job is throughout the play.

  7. Eugenio is a catholic Priest born on July 25. I am 56 years old. Being born July 25 makes me a Leo. Leo’s are said to be leaders naturally I try to lead people to god. I am paranoid because I know I shouldn’t be drinking and I don’t want to be caught. I feel guilty for Belen’s death.

  9. the town really needs to work on the dancing scene. it’s awkward and it looks really staged. me and cooper need to work on being more physical.

  10. Everyone has something to work on. We all need to stay in task and work more efficiently. I still need to finish setting my lights for each scenes. Characterization goes a long way to establishing stage business and the use of people noises.

  11. I think we need to work on our master gestures to differentiate between our character and ourselves. As the town, we also need to figure out each of our jobs and hobbies so we can use them in the play. We also all need to be louder and use more people noises.

  12. As part of an ensemble it’s very important that we are always paying attention to EVERYTHING happening on stage, Mrs. Couch can’t see it all and the actors can’t watch themselves so we always need to be ready to critique and help. I know it’s hard to stay focused for a long period of time and I’ve been horrible about it myself lately but we really need to put in the effort even when it feels stupid. The more we stay in character the easier it will get to figure out who our character is. Along with that we need to do a better kid of holding people accountable and pushing then to be their best even if it seems irrelevant. EVERY LITTLE THING IS RELEVANT!!

  13. I think one thing we can do as a town is go though every scene together and mark when and where we need to be. I know it gets confusing for us with all the flashbacks so it’s our responsibility to know where we need to be in order for the show to run smoothly.

  14. The towns people need to work on people noises, especially on the dancing scenes. And everyone needs to know their jobs and have all the necessary props for that job

  15. One thing the town needs to work on is stage business. Instead of messing around & wandering aimlessly, everything we do has to have a purpose. We for sure need to analyze every piece of our character to really bring them to life. As a group i think it’d be great if when we’re working scenes we all try to help them become better instead of giggling and talking to the people around us. The plays made progress just need to stay focused!

  16. Everything needs to be worked on including towns people with the spanish prayer and “people noises” and technical people with their timing and things like that.

  17. Yesterday one of the big things I saw was scene changes. We need to figure out the order of scenes to make it smoother

  18. I think we all need to focus on perfecting our character. Such as the townspeople with the Lords Prayer and stuff like that. Really knocking down all of the scenes.

  19. I believe the whole town scenes should have more people noises. I also thinly every one needs to work on the spanish accents because they keep going in and out.

  20. I think that we as a people need to focus on the dire situation we are in. San Isidro is one of many oppressed villages during the war and we need to see that in the “world” we are in everyone is under a harsh cloud that covers and corrupts. The situations need to be delved into as more than just a scene. Also, every line is a play you have to see th line as a mission statement. It is a statement to your lifeeeeee. Let’s do it

  21. Everyone needs to work on incorporating their master gestures into their characters. Right now, it seems like everyone is acting like themselves on stage, and incorporating master gestures can show the audience who you're trying to come across as. Everyone needs to work on character development as well. That includes your stage business, relationship to other characters, and the overall understanding of your character.

  22. I think we need to work on the end a little more, make sure we know who says what.

    ReplyDelete
  23. We also need better timing going on and off stage. I’d rather not be half dressed like when we went through the whole show.

  24. We have to figure out when to go where and we have to memorized how we change from one scene to the next scene

  26. I think we are still in the beginning and that means that we can do nothing but get better. We have to keep our driving force in mind and keep focused on that. If we lose sight of what we are doing this for then we are destined to fail. This play will not work if none of us have an end goal in mind.

  28. The dancing scene needs some more work it looks really awkward also the transitions need work

    ReplyDelete
  29. i think we need to work on transitions, especially at the beginning of the show. there are frequent awkward pauses between scenes that slow down the tempo of the play

  30. I think if we all study our lines more, commit yourself to your character. You will find him/her. The rest falls into place later,

  31. I like what we did with the radio scene on Thursday. I think we should have Mav say his last line after the radio is smashed.
